Palm oil is cholesterol and trans-fat free, but what about saturated fat?
If palm oil is cholesterol-free1 and trans-fat free2, why is it so often condemned?
The fuss, or rather confusion about palm oil is about it being a saturated fat. Saturated fats do ordinarily cause higher LDLs, but palm oil isn’t your ordinary saturated fat because it “lowers blood cholesterol levels compared to other saturated fats, which are high in potent cholesterol-raising myristic acid."3
So, palm oil is cholesterol-free, trans-fat free, lowers LDL and raises HDL4, it is the ideal oil for consumption.
